James Glynn

James Edward “Jim” Glynn, 84, a resident of Bettendorf, died Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at Trinity Rock Island.

Private family funeral services were held. Burial was at Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Ronald McDonald House.

Born on December 23, 1929 in Davenport, Jim was the son of William and Angie (Schmitz) Glynn. On June 21, 1952 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Davenport, he married Helen Mae Dubil.

Jim served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Jim owned and operated Glynn’s Tavern and Leprechaun Lounge in Bettendorf. He was a member of the American Legion and the Sunbeam Tiger’s Club. Jim enjoyed horse racing, sports cars and spending time with his grandchildren.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Helen; sons, Mark Edward Glynn and Shawn James Glynn; grandchildren, Kerry Catherine Glynn, Emily Kristen Glynn-Pierson, Darrius Alexander Glynn and Ryan James Glynn; great-grandchildren, Palmer Ann Pierson and Bryce William Pierson.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Katherine Johnson, Mickie Hutchings and Shirley Rucker and brothers, Bill, Dick and Jack Glynn.
