Janet was born July 14, 1934 in Redfield, Iowa, the daughter of Redfield Clipper & Ella Frances (Shaw) Mills. She graduated from Northwest Missouri State University in 1955. Janet was united in marriage to James Richard Hall on August 5, 1956 in Redfield. She started her teaching career in Des Moines, Iowa, and then taught for many years in Port Byron, Illinois for the Riverdale Community School District.
Janet was a long-term, active member of her church. She taught Sunday School and worked with Awana Clubs for many years. In more recent years, she volunteered many hours tutoring inner-city children at the Brick House. The common thread in all her work was a passion to see children expand their minds and grow in their faith in God.
Janet also had a lavish heart for mission work. Whether filling Christmas shoe boxes, making blankets, or generously giving to support missionaries, she loved the thought of making a difference in the broader world.
Closer to home, she especially enjoyed any time she could spend with her grandchildren. She had a rich and vibrant prayer life and loved writing notes of encouragement to others. Both of these very personal ministries will be missed.
She deeply loved Christ and is now enjoying an amazing new world with Him.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, James Richard; her daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer & Michael Meyer of LeClaire, iowa; her sons and daughters-in-law, Damon & Patricia Hall of Onalaska, Wisconsin and John & Pati Hall of Arnold, Maryland; eight grandchildren; and her brothers, John Mills of Saydel, Iowa and Donald Mills of Marshalltown, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Mary Shriner; and her brothers, Clipper Mills and Milton Mills.
