Born on June 26, 1933 in Centerville, Iowa, Ron was the son of Joseph and Cecelia Grenko. Ron served his country in the United States Army from 1955 – 1957. On September 22, 1962 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Davenport, he married Bonita Timmerman.
Ron worked at Alcoa for 34 ½ years in truck repair. He was an avid bowler and a life-long Iowa Hawkeye fan, holding season tickets for over 25 years. Ron loved detailing his family’s cars, playing the harmonica, watching soap operas, listening to Johnny Cash and polka music. He was best known for his jokes! Consider yourself lucky if you got the chance to hear one of his many. Ron cherished his time spent with his grandchildren and Hunter, the grand-dog.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Bonita “Bonnie” Grenko; daughters, Tammy (Mike) Kleinsmith of Bettendorf and Brenda Johnson of West Des Moines; grandchildren, Marcus and Rachel Johnson, Lindsey (Tim) Manning; a great-granddaughter on the way; and two brothers, his twin, Donald “Doc” (Jolene) Grenko and William “Bill” (Oleta) Grenko, both of Bettendorf.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Joan Jobe.
