Alberta Lee Heady, 81, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa and formerly of Pawnee City, Nebraska and Hinsdale, Illinois died on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at the Clarissa Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.
A memorial service to honor her life will be held at Christ Church of Oak Brook, Illinois on Friday, November 12th at 10:30 A.M. There will also be a memorial gathering on Friday evening November 19th from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Kraft-Graceland Funeral Home, 2776 Charleston Rd. in New Albany, Indiana. Interment will be at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany at 10:00 A.M. Saturday November 20th. Memorials may be made to the Children’s Home & Aid Society of Chicago or to a charity of the donor’s choice. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home of Bettendorf is assisting the family with arrangements.
She was born August 2, 1929 in New Albany, Indiana, the daughter of Frank & Bessie (Blunk) Terry.
Alberta was a member & past-president of the Hinsdale Chapter of the Children’s Home & Aid Society, a member of the Sponsor Parent Board, Member of Hinsdale Committee of 100, a former member & past-president of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and a former member of the Clarendon Hills Presbyterian Church of Clarendon Hills, Illinois. She was also past-president of Monroe School PTA.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Pam (Mike) Hamaker of Bettendorf; her sons, George E. “Chip” (Joan) Heady Jr. of Burr Ridge, Illinois, Mike Heady of Downers Grove, Illinois and Steve (Debra) Heady of Westmont, Illinois; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and her sister, Mary Ann Massey of Columbus , Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
