Alberta Spiess

April 8, 1941 — August 7, 2016

Alberta Ruth Spiess, 75, a resident of LeClaire, died Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Riverview Manor in Pleasant Valley.

Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church in LeClaire. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church or to the Elderly Meal Site in LeClaire. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf is assisting her family with arrangements.

Alberta was born on April 8, 1941 in Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Lucille (Wilson) Spiess.

Alberta worked at Younkers for over 20 years as a tailor making alterations. She also worked for Peterson’s making custom curtains. Alberta was very involved with the Elderly Meal Site in LeClaire and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, LeClaire Civic Center, Pioneer Settlers, Scott County Historical Society and Quilters Group. She enjoyed sewing, reading and cooking.

Alberta is survived by numerous cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother in infancy.
