Alice Jean Lanier Byram was born July 14, 1934 in Shamrock, Texas. She passed away peacefully at the age of 88, on September 16th, 2022 surrounded by her loving family in Davenport, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, Otis Hubert Lanier and Lilly Jane Ratchford Lanier, her brother Hubert Don Lanier and her eldest grandchild, Trenton Paul Bishop.
Alice’s life was full of many passions, her family, her love of sports, and her friends. But her number one joy was her devotion to sharing the redemptive power of Christ. She spent the majority of her life teaching and mentoring teenage young women, young wives and single women in biblical truths.
Alice was on staff with The Navigators, an International Missionary Organization since 1976. She lived and ministered in Colorado Springs, Colorado, San Antonio, Texas, Saratoga, Wyoming and Davenport, Iowa.
The scripture that encompasses Alice as a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, sister and mentor to many was a verse she prayed her whole life “You shall love the Lord with all your heart and with all your might.” Deuteronomy 6:5
Alice Byram leaves behind 3 adult children, Jerry Don Byram, Deborah Jean Byram Bishop (son-in-law Timothy Paul Bishop) and Susan Elaine Byram Scholz. She also leaves behind her grandchildren Ashley Wilt, Tatum Byram, Byram Bishop, Darah Bishop Bolkema, Dakotah Bishop, Johnny Scholz, Jacob Scholz and Sierra Stratton. Alice had 11 great grandchildren.
Alice’s message to all was to live life with no regrets. Her desire was to see all relationships with the Lord to be reconciled and that all would live life with purpose. She referred this living as “Life on life.”
