Amanda C. Martinez

Amanda C. Martinez, 39, of Davenport, IA died Sunday December 6, 2009 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice after a courageous 13 month battle with brain cancer.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2009 from 1pm to 5pm at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf, IA with a prayer service from 2:00 P.M. to 2:30 P.M.
Amanda Caroline Drefchinski was born July 25, 1970, in Rock Island, Illinois the daughter of Michael D. and Lynn A. (Cornmessor) Drefchinski.
She was a member of the Moline Blue Marlins Swim Team and the Moline High School Swim Team. She qualified for the Illinois State High School Swimming Championships.
She graduated from Buena High School, Sierra Vista, AZ and Junior College in Tucson, AZ.
She previously worked for Mid-American Energy and had a home Medical Transcription Processing business.
Amanda was married to the love of her life and caregiver, Troy A. Martinez, on June 10, 1995 at the Unitarian Church in Davenport.
Surviving are her husband, Troy; mother and step-father, Lynn and Ervin Thill of North Carolina; father and step-Mother, Mike & Elizabeth Drefchinski of Geneseo; mother-in-law, Tommie Morgan of Davenport; father-in-law, Henry Martinez of Davenport; sisters, Michelle Kurth of Davenport, and Suzanne Drefchinski of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and special nephews, Joshua and Nickolas , Amanda was a wonderful, loving Aunt to her nephews.
She was fond of animals, especially her pets, Lola, Charo and Bear.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents; Michael and Caroline Drefchinski,
Dale & Lois Nelson, and Rex Cornmessor.
