Ann M. Gross, 91, of Largo, Florida and formerly of Bettendorf, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 in Largo.

A Memorial Mass to celebrate her life will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, February 26, 2016 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Bettendorf.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf.  Burial will take place at the Rock Island National Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ann’s name to www.riverbendfoodbank.org.

She was born on July 5, 1924 in Dubuque, Iowa to Caroline and Leo Blasen and was a lifelong resident of Bettendorf.  Ann was an extraordinary woman who led her life with love, humor, joy, generosity, and a deep concern for others.  She possessed a radiant smile filled with love.   Most of all she was an amazing wife to her beloved Bob, a precious mom to her children and a devoted and loving woman to her dear relatives, friends and neighbors.  There was always something “cookin’ in the kitchen” at Ann’s house - her home was a source of joy for her and all of us who were lucky to be a part of her life.

Everyone liked hanging out with Ann.   She found the good in everyone she encountered, she always lent a helping hand, she touched so many lives, and she was always grateful for the amazing life that she lived.

Ann worked at the Rock Island Arsenal, retiring in 1985 after 21 years of service. She especially loved her bridge games and was a proud member of St. John Vianney Church.  She moved to Largo in 2005 to be near her daughter and son.   Her final years were happily spent at the Royal Palms of Largo, Florida.

Ann is survived by her daughter, Constance Gross and son, Arnold Schneider of Clearwater, Florida.

Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Gross and her son, Richard L. Gross.
