Ann S. Hamilton, 70, a resident of Princeton, IA, passed away Friday April 18, 2014 at Genesis West Medical Center in Davenport, IA.
Funeral Services will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday April 22, 2014 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf, IA. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday April 21 at the funeral home. Burial will follow the funeral service at Salem Lutheran Cemetery in Princeton, IA. Memorials may be made to Salem Lutheran Cemetery or Susan G. Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer Awareness.
Ann was born February 15, 1944, in Davenport, IA, the daughter of George and Wilma (Butenschoen) McCartney. She married Kenneth Hamilton on June 1, 1974, in Princeton, IA. Ann worked a variety of jobs through her life: electronic technician at Struther’s Dunn, customer service clerk at Peterson’s-VonMaur, homemaker, farmer, and she retired from Iowa One Call. She also served in the U.S. Navy.
In her spare time she enjoyed knitting and crocheting, gardening both vegetables and flowers, riding trikes and snowmobiling. Ann would like to gather family and friends and go camping/fishing, playing cards especially euchre and solitaire, and playing bags.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband of 39 years Kenneth Hamilton; her daughters Meredith Hamilton and Sue Hamilton and her fiancé Kevin Lamfers; her son Aaron Hamilton; her grandson Bryce Uitermarkt; her granddaughter Brittany Uitermarkt; her sister Lynn McCartney; her brother Thomas (Ruby) McCartney; several nieces and nephews; and her honorary family Danny and Missy Ion, Amanda Ion, and Maddie Ion. She was preceded in death by her parents; her aunt Elna Gibson; her uncle Hoot Gibson; her father-in-law Warren Hamilton; and her mother-in-law Mary Hamilton.
