Anna E. Schuster, 73, of Bettendorf, Iowa died Friday, August 7, 2009 at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport after a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at Risen Christ Lutheran Church in Davenport, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Rock Island, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Risen Christ Lutheran Church, Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri, The Lutheran Homes for the Aged of Iowa East or Lutheran Family Services of Iowa.
Anna was born October 8, 1935 in Attica, Michigan, the daughter of Berton “Bert” C. & Emma P. (Dunkel) Schroeder. She was united in marriage to Rev. Frederick H. Schuster on November 5, 1960 in
Lapeer, Michigan. He preceded her in death on May 22, 2005.
Anna was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. After receiving her Bachelor of Arts Degree at Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana she served as a Deaconess for a short time. She was active at Risen Christ Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Altar Guild, sang in the church choir and had served on the boards of two pre-schools. Additionally, she was a member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and had also been a nursery school teacher. Anna enjoyed gardening, crafts, Bible study, and spending time with her loving family, especially her grandsons.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughters Ellen Schuster of Bettendorf, and Audrey Vandenburgh & her husband, Alan of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; her son Steven F. Schuster & his wife, Taresa of Rockford, Illinois; her grandsons, Calvin, William & Hayden Schuster; her sister Betty (Louis) Wojtowicz; her brothers Ralph (Fran) Schroeder, Roy (Erdine) Schroeder and Lawrence (Deanne) Schroeder; her brother-in-law Phillip Schuster; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Frederick, Anna was preceded in death by her parents; her sister Ruth Grill; and her brothers Russell Schroeder, Paul Schroeder and Ralph Schroeder.
