Anna I. King, 78, a resident of Davenport, Iowa, died peacefully on Friday, May 2, 2008 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, May 5, 2008 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. on Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the E.A. Motto Renal Dialysis Center of Genesis Medical Center-East Campus (patient fund), or to the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.
Anna was born July 25, 1929 in Racine, Wisconsin, the daughter of Axel & Laura (Huscko) Ring. She was united in marriage to Howard King on July 24, 1948 in Bettendorf.
Anna was retired from the Davenport School System after many years of employment. In earlier years, she had been employed at the former St. Luke’s Hospital in Davenport. She was the Past President of Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 9128 of Bettendorf and formerly the Auxiliary President of the former Davenport Osteopathic Hospital in Davenport. Additionally, she had volunteered for many years at the Center for Active Seniors, Inc. in Davenport, achieving a volunteer of the year award. She was also a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Davenport.
Anna touched many people’s lives. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved helping others, attending outdoor picnics, cooking, playing cards and bingo, dancing, music and traveling.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Howard; her children, Sharon L. Schwarz, Roger (Maggie) King, Carol (Jerry) Jacobsen, and David C. King, all of Davenport; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; her sister, Pat Crowley of Cedar Bluff, Iowa; and her brother, John Ring, of LeClaire, Iowa.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents; one sister; and one grandson.
