Ann C. Chance, 101, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died on Sunday, September 10, 2006 at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus in Davenport, Iowa.
Her funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, September 14, 2006 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. John’s United Methodist Church, Davenport where she was the oldest living member.
She was born April 6, 1905 in Hancock, Iowa, the daughter of Julius & Magdaline (Sinn) Nissen. In May of 1935, she married Hugh C. Chance in Morrison, Illinois. He preceded her in death in 1958.
Ann was a homemaker and prior to her marriage, worked as a secretary at the Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport.
Her memberships included St. John’s United Methodist Church of Davenport, the Women’s Christian Society and the Putnam Museum Guild.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Patricia Ann (Earl) Johnson of Bettendorf; eleven grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and her daughters-in-law, Madeline Chance and Velma Chance, both in Florida
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Louise Nissen and Edna Nissen; her brothers, Karl Nissen and George Nissen; and her step-sons, Hugh E. Chance, Dr. Levern Chance and Dean Chance.
