Annie Ritter, 90, a life-long resident of Scott County died on Saturday, September 2, 2006 at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus in Davenport, Iowa.
Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf, Iowa. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church of Pleasant Valley, Iowa where she was a member or to Genesis Hospice, 6th Floor at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus in Davenport.
She was born November 3, 1915 in Davenport, the daughter of Edward & Engeline J. (Hansen) Slaby Sr. On March 23, 1932, she was united in marriage to Gustave Otto “Gus” Ritter in Morrison, Illinois. He preceded her in death on August 23, 2002.
Annie was a devoted wife and loving mom & grandma. She did not consider herself retired, “just tired.” Among the things she enjoyed were dancing and playing poker with her friends & family. Annie was an excellent cook and loved potatoes fixed in any way.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Frances Ewoldt of Greenwood, Wisconsin and Beverly (Bob) Hardy of Hugo, Minnesota; her son, James (Marilyn) Ritter of Beardstown, Illinois; twelve grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Richard L. Ritter; her sisters, Frieda Hambell, Elsie Seibel, Alma Seibel and Saphronia McBride; her brothers, George Slaby, Fred “Fritz” Slaby and Edward “Boy” Slaby; and her son-in-law, Donald Ewoldt.
