Annis Mcconnell

Annis V. McConnell, 94, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa passed away at her home on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 surrounded by her beloved family.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Friday, March 8, 2013 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel in Bettendorf.  Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.  She will be laid to rest at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Friends Cemetery in Richland, Iowa.  Memorials may be made to the family.

She was born July 14, 1918 in Fairfield, Iowa, the daughter of Bert & Cora (Hill) Ingle.  On April 18, 1937, she was united in marriage to John F. McConnell in Memphis, Missouri.  He preceded her in death in January of 1982.

In earlier years, Annis had been employed as a meat cutter and kitchen worker.  Her later years were spent as a homemaker and as a loving wife, mom, grandma, great-grandma and great-great-grandma.  She enjoyed cooking for her family and sewing.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Jonita (McConnell) Leenerts of Bettendorf; her son Roger (Sally) McConnell of Mesa, Arizona; twelve grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; twenty-one great-great-grandchildren; and her very special friends, Helen Rotzinger of Bettendorf and Melissa Garza of Moline, Illinois.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Delores Ewald; her sons, Skip and Jerry; her granddaughter, Angie; her sisters, Elena Pierce, Emma Wallerich and Esther Palmgren; and her brother, Arthur Ingle.
