Anthony D. “Tony” Polak, 62, of Rock Island, died Thursday, October 22, 2015 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.
Funeral Services & Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 A.M., Monday, October 26, 2015 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Bettendorf. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Burial will be in Rapids City Cemetery in Rapids City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.
Tony was born January 11, 1953 in Cocoa Beach, Florida, the son of Richard & Mary Jo (Meyer) Polak. Tony was a software engineer, once employed with the Rock Island Arsenal. He had lived and traveled throughout Europe for many years and he spoke fluent German. Tony also was an avid tennis player and he enjoyed music, good food, movies and traveling. He especially enjoyed the company of his grandchildren and the time spent with his beloved family.
Those left to honor his memory include his daughters, Melissa (Keene) Saxon of Spring Hill, Kansas and Stephanie Polak of Rock Island; his grandchildren, Skylar, Marlee, Keene IV & Brody; his sisters, Mary Anne (Andy) Kopatich of Bettendorf, Teri Polak of Portland, Oregon and Judy (Jim) Espejo of Atlanta, Georgia; his brothers, Joseph (Ting) Polak of Joliet, Illinois, Thomas Polak of Davenport and Rick (Jan) Polak of Joliet; and several nieces and nephews.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents.
