Ardis Heskett

March 30, 1921 — December 4, 2017

Ardis C. Heskett, 96, of Davenport, died Monday, December 4, 2017 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus in Davenport.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 8, 2017 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services on Friday at the funeral home.  Private burial services will follow at Rock Island National Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church of Davenport where she was a member.

Ardis was born March 30, 1921 in Hendricks, Minnesota, the daughter of Martin & Clara (Skjonsby) Holmlund.  She was united in marriage to Harold V. Heskett on June 21, 1946 in Davenport.  He preceded her in death on December 5, 1986.

Ardis received defense training and was employed with the Rock Island Arsenal during World War II.  During her service, she was on softball and basketball teams.  A picture of her team is featured at the Arsenal Museum.  Following the war, she was employed with Servus Rubber in Rock Island.

Ardis and Harold were avid fishers, spending many summers at their lake home in Minnesota.  She also was a member of the Davenport Bowling Association, having enjoyed bowling for many years.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Gloria (Ron) Willmowitz of Marine City, Michigan; her son, Ronald (Mary) Heskett of Bettendorf; her grandchildren, Jill (Clint) Wagner, Brooke Heskett, Erica Heskett and Kevin Thomas; one great-granddaughter and three great-grandsons.

In addition to her husband, Harold, Ardis was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Irene Madsen; her brothers, Clifford, Robert and Merton; and a great-grandson, Aiden.
