Arleen R. Smith, 90, of Davenport, Iowa, formerly of Bettendorf, Iowa, went home to be with Jesus on Monday, July 17, 2017 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus in Davenport.
A celebration of her life will be held at 12:00 P.M., Saturday, July 22, 2017 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home with Chaplain Bruce McNeely officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the family.
Arleen was born in Davenport on September 19, 1926, the daughter of Elmer & Mabel (Anderson) Keiser. She was united in marriage to Gene R. Smith on July 31, 1944 in Sterling, Illinois. He preceded her in death on December 24, 1981.
Arleen had worked for Drs. Balzer and Edgerton for several years and later for Drs. Rovine and Harpring. She attended First Baptist Church in Davenport for many years. Arleen enjoyed watching golf and football, baseball particularly the Green Bay Packers. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she enjoyed family get-togethers and dinners with those she loved.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Cheryl Sickler of Bettendorf; her son and daughter-in-law, Randy & Cheri Smith of Bettendorf; her grandchildren, Heather Smith, Aaron Sickler, Ryan Sickler, Shawn Smith, Amber Smith and Kim (Tim) Haut; her great-grandchildren, Nicole (George) Walsh, Shawnen Smith-Youngman, Malea Youngman, Emily Haut and Ashlyn Youngman; her sister, Mardel (Jack) Simpson of Davenport; and her brother, Marvin Keiser of Bettendorf.
In addition to her husband, Gene, she was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Sally Smith and her brother, Kenneth Keiser.
