Arnold "Sam" Fentress

Arnold R. “Sam” Fentress, 64, of Pleasant Valley, Iowa passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at Unity Point Health – Trinity Bettendorf. 

Private family services were held, and burial was at Pleasant Valley Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 11th at Sunrise Golf Course, Bettendorf. The family asks that memorials be directed to The Republican National Committee in support of Making America Great Again! Donations may be made by visiting www.GOP.com. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Sam was born January 4, 1960 in Moline, Illinois. He graduated from Rock Island High School in 1978 and later graduated from the Fire Academy at University of Illinois. In 1988, he married Geraldine Kunstel, and later married Mindy Hass in 2001. Sam proudly served as a firefighter in Muscatine and later in Davenport from 1990-1995. He owned and operated S.A.M.S. Stormwater and Management Services in Donahue for the past 16 years. He was a member of the Davenport Athletic Club, enjoyed playing golf, and was a former racquetball player. Sam loved spending time with his grandchildren and going to the movies with them. He enjoyed traveling with family and friends, and was eager to be everyone’s amateur travel agent!

Those left to honor his memory are his wife and companion of 17 years, Penny Callison of Pleasant Valley; his children, Ariel (Jacob Anson) Fentress of Eldridge and Kyley Fentress of Bettendorf; step-children, Christine Drayer of LeClaire and Corbin (Jaclyn) Callison of San Antonio, Texas; eight grandchildren, Mason, Parker, Brody, Charlotte, Aidan, Eddie, Piper, and Randall; and numerous extended family members and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
