Arthur L. Rhoades, 79, of Clarksville, TN, formerly of Princeton, passed away Thursday, April 26, 2012 at home surrounded by family.
Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial services will be held Thursday, June 7, 2012 at 12 p.m. at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. His family will receive relatives and friends from 10 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Davenport VFW post #828.
He was born in Davenport on August 4, 1932. He proudly served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict as a Surgical Tech. He was a Lifetime member of VFW Post 828. He retired from Caterpillar in 1988 after 29 years. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, the History, Discovery and Military channels. His eyes lit up when he would reminisce about the years he spent with the Jake and Rachel Dodds family in Pleasant Valley.
Those left to honor his memory are his sons Bradley (Evelyn) Rhoades, Clarksville, TN, Mark Anderson, Black Rock, AR, Kenneth (Tina) Meier, Monrovia, IN and daughter Becky (Russ) Turgeon, Regina, Canada, twelve grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren, nieces Rhonda (Larry) Pruden and Debbie Dawson, Davenport and numerous others who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his father Ervin, brother Ervin Jr. and wife Pauline.
