Audrey M. Havens, 102, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa and formerly of Aledo, Illinois died on Thursday, September 22, 2005 at Crest Health Center in Davenport, Iowa.
Her funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, September 26, 2005 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf. Graveside services will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Monday at the Aledo Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, the 1st Prestyberian Church of Davenport, Iowa or to the College Avenue Presbyterian Church, Aledo.
She was born February 4, 1903 in Shelby, Alabama, the daughter of John & Cornelia Elizabeth (Macknight) May. She was united in marriage to Farr Carroll in Rock Island, Illinois on February 25, 1923. He preceded her in death in 1964. She was united in marriage to George C. Havens in Aledo on November 5, 1972. He preceded her in death on September 4, 1976.
Audrey was a member of 1st Presbyterian Church of Davenport and a former member of the College Avenue Presbyterian Church, Aledo. She was a former member of the Quad-City Organ Club, the Moline and Bettendorf Senior Citizens, the Quad-Cities Plus-60 Club and Senior Fellowship of the church. While living in Aledo, she was a member of several area organizations.
Audrey loved people and especially loved to dance.
Those left to honor her memory include her sons & daughters-in-law, Bob & Joan Carroll of Aledo, Richard Carroll of Alta Vista, Kansas and Don & Carol Carroll of Donahue, Iowa; her step-son, Kent Havens & his wife, Kay of Loveland, Florida; her grandchildren, Nancy Moffitt Barnes, Christina Lindle, Cody Duncan, Shawna Sarver, Bradley Carroll, Steven Carroll and Blain Carroll; her step-grandchildren, Steven Havens, Greg Havens & Debbie Havens; twelve great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and her brother, Verne May of Lake Park, Georgia.
In addition to her husbands, Audrey was preceded in death by her brothers, Gene May, Cecil May, J.C. May and James May.
