Barbara Kay Klundt, 64, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa and formerly of Mesa, Arizona went home to her Lord on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 surrounded by her beloved family.
She was born October 10, 1946 in Mendota, Illinois, the daughter of James and Orrilla (Moody) Landers. Barbara graduated from Mendota High School and was a graduate of the American Institute of Commerce in Davenport, Iowa. On May 20, 1966, she was united in marriage to Victor J. Klundt at St. John’s United Methodist Church of Davenport.
Barbara was employed as a legal secretary before her retirement several years ago. She was a member of the Broadway Christian Church of Mesa and was active in mission work. Barbara enjoyed bible study with her sister Connie, treasured the time spent with family, loved being with her friends, took great pleasure in cooking for her family and was an avid walker. She was a 1998 breast cancer survivor.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Victor; her daughter, Julie K. (Gary) Nellis of Bettendorf; her sons, Kent (Ana Maria) Klundt of St. Joseph, Missouri, Keith (Tabitha) Klundt of Andalusia, Illinois and John (Kayleen) Klundt of Mesa, Arizona; her beloved grandchildren, Alizabeth (Arlis) Wilborn, Zachery (Brittni) Klundt, Josh Klundt, Mya Klundt, Alex Reed, Tia Klundt, Matt Klundt, Haley Nellis, Kameron Klundt, Faith Klundt, Emily Klundt and Hadassah Klundt; and her sister, Connie (Jim) Knuckey of Moline, Illinois.
Her parents preceded her in death.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, October 15, 2010 at Bethany Baptist Church, 700 35th Ave. Place. in Moline, Illinois. The family will greet friends from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Friday at the church. Contributions in her memory may be made to the American Indian Christian Mission, 924 Mission Lane, Show Low, Arizona 85901. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home of Bettendorf is assisting the family with arrangements.
