Barbara J. "Ma" Paaske

Barbara J. “Ma” Paaske, 91, of Eldridge, Iowa died on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at her home. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, July 29th at Chambers Funeral Home in Eldridge. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery in Davenport. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. on Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

She was born in Long Grove, Iowa on June 17, 1933, the daughter of James and Lucille (Robertson) Pollock. On November 16, 1955, she was united in marriage to Jackson H. “Jack” Paaske in Argo, Iowa. He preceded her in death on January 3, 2021.

Barbara owned & operated Barb’s Beauty Salon in Eldridge for many years and was a member of the Scott County Pioneer Decedents.

She was a devoted wife, mom & grandma who enjoyed going to Circa 21, loved traveling, attended stock car races in earlier years and treasured the times spent with her beloved family.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Shelly Howell and Brenda (David) Whitney; her grandchildren, Derek Hamilton, Ashly (Zeb) Hubner and Garrett Hamilton; her great-grandchildren, Liam Hamilton, Daxton Hamilton, Quinn Hubner, Reese Hubner and Brady Hubner; and her sister, Vera Pewe of Durant, Iowa.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, June Pride and Virginia Mallicoat.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to her caregivers, Haley and Lily and to her special friend, Sandy Ainslie.
