Barbara A. Turpin, 83, of Riverdale, Iowa, died Monday, March 14, 2011 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus in Davenport.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Saturday, March 19, 2011 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the services on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Pleasant Valley High School Band Boosters.

Barbara was born March 6, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Fred & Thelma (Newman) Brod. She was united in marriage to Robert L. Turpin on March 10, 1960 in Mount Prospect, Illinois.

Barbara & Robert had owned and operated Turpin’s RV Storage in Bettendorf for many years until their retirement in 2007. Together they enjoyed riding motorcycles in earlier years, camping, fishing and extensive traveling. Barbara’s ‘second home’ was Las Vegas, where she loved to visit.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband of fifty-one years, Robert; her son, Craig (Terry) Wiegel of Bettendorf; her step-children, Barbara Gaulden of Indianapolis, Indiana, Bernard (Marilyn) Turpin of Mt. Carmel, Illinois and Roberta (Allen) Smith of West Salem, Illinois; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; her sister Nancy (Guy) Klepsteen of Eldridge; her daughter-in-law, Cindy Turpin of West Salem; and several nieces and nephews.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; her step-son, Clyde Turpin; and her grandson, Chris Turpin.
