Barbara J. (Hakes)Tillberg, 62, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died Sunday, January 11, 2004 at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus in Davenport following an extended illness.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, January 15, 2004 at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend her services should meet at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf by 10:30 A.M. There will be no visitation. Following the interment, a celebration of her life will be held from 12:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. Thursday at the Isle of Capri, Isle Center, Salon A in Bettendorf to which all are invited. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to C.A.S.I.
Barbara was born February 9, 1941 in Muscatine, Iowa, the daughter of Edward J. & Frances D. (Harris) Hakes. On August 19, 1983, she was united in marriage to Paul E. Tillberg in Blue Grass, Iowa.
Barbara owned & operated Octagon Information Services, Inc., a computer consulting business with offices in Davenport and Des Moines, Iowa. She founded the company in 1996. Her memberships included the Better Business Bureau and the Davenport Chamber of Commerce.
Among the things she enjoyed were collecting antiques and glassware. During her leisure time, she loved to travel and took great pleasure in fine dining. Barbara was an accomplished cook, a talented gardener and an avid reader.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Paul; her mother, Frances Hakes of Davenport; her sister, Cecelia Kale of Davenport; her brothers, Leslie in Texas, Robert of Biloxi, Mississippi and David, Richard, Bryon & Jeffery, all of Davenport; many nieces & nephews including Lezly Flynn of Davenport; and a close & special friend, Carole Washburn of Davenport.
She was preceded in death by her father.
