Barbara J. Tometich

Barbara J. Tometich, 83, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died on Monday, January 19, 2009 at her home.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, January 23, 2009 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel in Bettendorf. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Bettendorf Presbyterian Church where she was a member.
She was born November 6, 1925 in Viola, Illinois, the daughter of Forrest & Lucy (Clark) Tomlinson. On July 3, 1948, she was united in marriage to Steve P. Tometich in Bettendorf.
Barbara was a graduate of the former Moline Public Hospital School of Nursing and was employed as a registered nurse in the nursery at the former St. Luke’s Hospital in Davenport, Iowa, retiring in 1974.
In addition to the church, she was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Steve; her daughter, Janice (Darrell) Ridgeway of Bettendorf; her son, Steve (Mary) Tometich of Bettendorf; her grandchildren, Carrie Ridgeway, Stephanie (Chad) Gainey and Josh Krueger; and her great-grandchildren, Cassidy Ridgeway, Brooklyn Rohm and Taylor Gainey.
Her parents and her brother, Robert Tomlinson, preceded Barbara in death.
