Barry W. Braack, 76, of Eldridge, died peacefully, surrounded by his family on Thursday, July 4, 2013 at Select Specialty Hospital in Davenport.
Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at Faith Lutheran Church in Eldridge. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 8th at the church. Memorials may be made to Eldridge Fire & Rescue or the Barry Braack Memorial Fund for a park bench to be installed.
Born on November 19, 1936 in Davenport, Barry was the son of Werner and Cleone (Coyle) Braack. In 1958 he married June Burris.
Barry was a 1955 graduate of Davenport High School. He served in the National Guard. Barry was a volunteer firefighter for the City of Eldridge and also served as fire chief. He worked for Bendix Aviation, Eldridge Lumber Yard for 33 years, Eldridge True Value and finally for Whitco., retiring in 2000. Barry was a charter member and president of the Eldridge JC’s and had served as city treasurer.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, June Braack of Eldridge; sons, Bryan Braack, Dean (Amy) Braack and David (Sara) Braack, all of Eldridge; six grandchildren, Mitchell, Chase, Jordanne, Kennady, Keaton and Korbin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Jacob; brother, Dale and sister, Audrey.
Barry’s family would like to extend their appreciation and gratitude for the excellent care he received at Genesis and Select Specialty Hospitals.
