Beatrice Ohlrogge

Beatrice I. Ohlrogge, 80, a resident of Riverdale, Iowa died Thursday, September 11, 2003 at Manor Care Nursing Center, Davenport, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 16, 2003 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf, Iowa. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Handicapped Development Center, Davenport.
She was born September 22, 1922 in Waupaca, Wisconsin, the daughter of Arthur & Mary Elizabeth (Owen) Darrow. On March 4, 1941, she married Paul William Ohlrogge in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. He preceded her in death on July 1, 1993.
Bea owned & operated Bea’s Market in Bettendorf from 1951 to 1958 and later worked as manager of Maternity Modes in Duck Creek Plaza from 1963 to 1970.
She was a member of the former Valley General Baptist Church, Bettendorf.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Ruth Ann Brand of Houston, Texas; her son, Paul A. Ohlrogge of Davenport; her granddaughter, Sherri Simmons of Tulsa, Oklahoma; her great-grandson, Aaron Simmons; and her “adopted daughter,” Jean Machalek of LeClaire, Iowa.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her great-granddaughter, Katrina Marie Simmons; her sisters, Lorrayne Berg and Ruth Burr; and her brothers, Owen Darrow and Burton Darrow.
