Bee Maree Lopez

Bee Maree “Aunt Bee” (Schumann) Lopez, 78, of Davenport, Iowa, died Sunday, March 26, 2017 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus in Davenport.

Her funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, March 30, 2017 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf.  Visitation will be held from 2:00 until the time of the services on Thursday at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to Hospice Compassus.

Bee was born May 22, 1938 in Davenport, the daughter of Hermann & Martha (Fick) Schumann.  A graduate of Davenport High School, she was employed over the years with St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Caterpillar, Long’s Manufacturing and Brammer Manufacturing.  She and Gyorgy spend many years traveling, riding motorcycles and camping.  They had attended many Iowa Hawkeye football games, including several Peach and Rose Bowls.  She was an avid fan of Chicago sports, including the Bears, Bulls and Cubs.

Those left to honor her memory include her life-long companion, Gyorgy “George” Barabas of Davenport; her son, Caleb Lopez of Denver; her grandchildren, Noah Lopez, Gage Lopez and Teri Jennifer Meyers; her step-daughter, Diana Pulse and her children, Travis Pulse and Jessica West; 13 great-grandchildren; her sisters-in-law, Marge Schumann and Norma Schumann; and several nieces and nephews.

Bee was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Lopez; her sisters, Lee Brown and Juanita Tague; her brothers, Dale Schumann, Keith Schumann and Boyd Schumann; her sister-in-law, Helen Schumann; and her brothers-in-law, Fran Brown and Russ Tague.

Bee’s family would like to express special thanks to the staff of Hospice Compassus, particularly her nurses, Marcy, Ann and Wendy for all their exemplary care and concern for Bee.
