Bernice Ulczycki

April 25, 1926 — October 27, 2018

Bernice J. Ulczycki, a longtime resident of the Quad-Cities, died on Saturday, October 27 at Hope Hospice in Lehigh Acres, Florida, following a stroke.  She was 92.

Funeral Services & Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Bettendorf, Iowa on Friday at 10:30 a.m.  Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Burial will be in Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Bernice Julia Van Besien was born April 25, 1926 in Jesup, Iowa to Julius and Elizabeth Van Besien.  She spent her childhood in East Moline and graduated from East Moline High School in 1943.  She married Leon Ulczycki on October 29, 1949 in East Moline.  They resided in Moline until 1966, when the family moved to Bettendorf.  He died in 1999.  She relocated to Florida in 2003.

She is survived by her three children – Nancy Brennan, Mapleton, IL.; John (Patricia), Cedar Creek, TX.; and James, Fort Myers, Fl.; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, four step grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three brothers and three sisters.
