Bernice Wulf, 90, a life-long resident of Long Grove, Iowa, died Thursday, December 3, 2009 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, Iowa.
Funeral Services & Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M., Monday, December 7, 2009 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Long Grove. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. on Sunday at the church with a prayer service to be held at 5:00 P.M. Burial will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Donahue American Legion Boy’s State Fund or to the church.
Bernice was born February 7, 1919 in Long Grove, the daughter of Basil & Leontine (Goethals) Strobbe. She was united in marriage to Ralph J. Wulf on November 13, 1943 in Long Grove. He preceded her in death on July 5, 2004.
Bernice was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was very devoted to her faith, as it was the center of her life. Her family and those in need were of utmost importance to her. She was also a talented gardener who could make anything grow and was an accomplished seamstress as well.
She was a charter member of St. Ann’s Guild and the Donahue American Legion Auxiliary. Other memberships included the Long Grove Senior Citizens Club and the Golden Anniversary Club.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughters & sons-in-law, Pat & Randy Siemsen of Eldridge, Iowa, Barbara McFate of Bettendorf and Bonnie & Jim Ocheltree of Dysart, Iowa; her grandchildren & their spouses, Jennifer & Wade Lamont, Sarah & Doug Rothgeb, Erin & Troy Verbeckmoes, Jill McFate, David (Kristi) McFate, Dan Ocheltree (Lindsey Schmitt) & Tom Ocheltree; her great-grandchildren, Dane, Luke & Olivia Lamont, Zachary & Lila Verbeckmoes, Mason McFate and Hayden Ocheltree; her sisters-in-law, Viola Strobbe and Joanne Mooney; her brother-in-law, Roger Knoche; and her special cousin, Pearl Rechterman.
In addition to her husband, Ralph, Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; and her brothers Maurice & Roy Strobbe.
