Bertha E. Sampsel, 73, of Davenport, died Saturday, March 31, 2007 at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, April 5, 2007 at O’Donnell Funeral Home, Hannibal, Missouri. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Visitation will also be held from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Monday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf, Iowa. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Hannibal. Memorials may be made to the family.
Bertha was born November 7, 1933 in Hannibal, the daughter of Henry H. & Sylvia Mae (Dodd) Lucas. She was united in marriage to Arthur Honeycutt on February 27, 1952. She was later united in marriage to Russell Sampsel. He preceded her in death.
Bertha was a lifetime member of and had been employed by the Salvation Army. In later years, she was employed in the cafeteria at the Scott County Courthouse. She enjoyed her pets, vegetable and flower gardening, and spending time with her family, including her close companion, Arthur.
Those left to honor her memory include her sons, Albert Honeycutt and his wife, Diane, of Philadelphia, Missouri, Alan Honeycutt of Davenport, and Terry Honeycutt and his wife, Lisa, of Bettendorf; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her mother, Sylvia Lucas, of Emden, Missouri; her sisters, Margaret Dennis, and her husband, Kenneth, of Davenport, and Ann Lucas, of Davenport; her brothers, Eugene Lucas and his wife, Karol, of Huneywell, Missouri, Frank Lucas and his wife, Sharon, of Emden, Ronnie Lucas, and his wife, Vicky, of Maywood, Missouri, and Bennie Lucas, of Monroe, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Russell; she was preceded in death by her father, Henry; her son Arthur Honeycutt; her sister, Betty Ronimous; her brother, John Lucas; and her sisters-in-law, Sharon K. Lucas and Peggy Lucas.
