Betty Burkamper

Betty June Burkamper, 97, of Bettendorf, Iowa, passed away on Monday, July 15, 2019 at the Bettendorf Health Care Center surrounded by her granddaughter and caretaker Allyson.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 22, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services on Monday at the funeral home.  Burial will take place at Glendale Cemetery in Le Claire, Iowa.  Memorials may be made to the family.

Betty was born June 27, 1922 in Le Claire, the daughter of James and Mary (Roberts) McCauley. She was united in marriage to Alvin L. “Mickey” Burkamper in October of 1962. He preceded her in death on January 29, 1983.

Betty was employed at The Lone Star Inn many years ago, as well as Bridges Catering. She enjoyed walking, as she walked two miles a day, every day. She enjoyed watching old TV shows and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Shawn (James) Walden of Bettendorf and Julie Huckleberry of Oregon; her son, Kevin Kimmel of Princeton, Iowa; her granddaughter and caretaker, Allyson Paaske of Bettendorf; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, Mickey; a son, Jeff; a daughter, Cheryl; two sisters; and three brothers.

The family would like to express their utmost appreciation to the staff and caregivers with UnityPoint Hospice and with the Bettendorf Health Care Center.
