Betty Lou Caulpetzer-Marley, 97, of Geneseo, Illinois, formerly of LeClaire, Iowa passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Hammond-Henry Hospital, Geneseo.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Those attending are asked to wear a mask and should meet at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home by 10:00 a.m. Memorials may be directed to the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.
Betty was born on December 11, 1923 in Macomb, Illinois, the daughter of Lester and Lutish (Massey) Ballard. She was raised in LeClaire, where her parents owned and operated the local grocery store. Betty worked in the office at Alcoa for many years prior to her retirement. In her younger years, she enjoyed bowling, golfing, and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved spending time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren and her great-great-granddaughter.
Those left to honor her memory are her son, John (Sandy) Heldt of Hopkinsville, Kentucky; step-son, Scott Caulpetzer of Davenport; four grandchildren, Amy, Darcy, Ginger, Greg; six great-grandchildren, John, Christina, Evan, David, Christopher, and Caroline; a great-great-granddaughter, Jordan; and her sister, Adda Jean Little of Bettendorf.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two children, Frances Mullin and Richard Heldt; her sisters, Catherine Calhoun, Darlene Spear, Mary Phillips, Mildred Nicholson, and Alta Hudgens; and her brother, Lester Ballard.
