Betty A. Corwin, 89, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus in Davenport, Iowa.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home of Bettendorf preceded by an Order of the Eastern Star memorial service at 2:45 P.M. She will be laid to rest at Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials may be made to E.S.T.A.R.L. (Eastern Star Training Award for Religious Leadership)
She was born in Hamilton County, Indiana the daughter of Rush E. and Helen A. (Jewell) Shoemaker
Betty was a 50-year member and past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 178 of Davenport and had dual membership with the Moline Order of the Eastern Star. She was also a former member and past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 198 of St. Joseph, Missouri and a former member and past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 553 of Bettendorf.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Janith (Tom) Beer of Lincoln, Nebraska; her son, Phil (Ginny) Corwin of Bettendorf; twelve grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and her brother, Luther Shoemaker of Carmel, Indiana. She will be sadly missed, but her memory will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Betty was preceded in death by her sons, Burl Kishline and Mark Corwin; and by her parents.
