March 9, 1930 — March 4, 2014

Betty L. Davis, formerly of LeClaire, Iowa, passed away Tuesday March 4, 2014 at Select Specialty Hospital in Davenport, Iowa.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday March 7, 2014 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf, Iowa.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday March 6, 2014 at the funeral home.  Burial will be at Jack’s Cemetery in LeClaire following the funeral service.

Betty was born March 9, 1930 in Blairsburg, Iowa, the daughter of Floyd W. and Alvina J. (Osborn) Ewing.  She married George Dunscombe in Fort Dodge, Iowa and later divorced.  On May 17, 1980 Betty married Charles Davis in Fairport, Iowa.  Betty worked as a homemaker, stock room manager and held various jobs with trucking companies.

Betty was a magnificent seamstress; she made quilts for her entire family.  She enjoyed crafts, and traveling with Charlie, whether it was trucking or traveling down to Florida for the winter.  Betty had a green thumb and could grow any plant she came in contact with.  She cherished her time spent with her kids and grandkids; Betty will be remembered as a loving and caring mother, grandma, great-grandma and friend

Those left to honor her memory include her loving spouse and best friend of 33 years Charlie Davis; three children Cheryl (Bob) Kipper, Monty (Lora) Dunscombe, and Lindy (Bob) Voss; her seven grandchildren; her twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; her step-children Steve (Sharon) Davis, Donnie (Jeri) Davis, Julie (Wayne) Stuart, Paul Davis, and Debbie Davis; many step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; her half-brothers Bill and David Ewing; and her three half-sisters Barb Wolfe, Shirley Donahue, and Nancy Steberg.

She was preceded in death by George Dunscombe; grandchildren Jestin Voss, Cody and Averi Mading; and son-in-law James Kipper.

Betty’s family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. Al-Shieka and the nurses and CNAs at Select Specialty Hospital for their time and professional care they provided for her and her family during this time.
