Betty Dean

Betty L. Dean, 84, of Bettendorf, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2013 at her daughter’s home in Rapids City, Illinois.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, July 26, 2013 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf.  Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the services on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Rock Island National Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice or to the American Cancer Society.

Betty was born August 16, 1928 in Cotter, Arkansas, the daughter of Alvis & Allie (Stapleton) Spoon.  She was united in marriage to William J. McCutcheon in 1945.  She was later united in marriage to Thomas J. Dean on January 6, 1987.

Betty was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.  She was proud to be a fifth generation mother and always put her family first.  She was an avid bingo player and had also enjoyed going to casinos.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Thomas; her daughter and son-in-law, Linda & John Garcia of Rapids City; ten grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; eleven great-great grandchildren; her daughters-in-law, Pam McCutcheon of Moro, Illinois and Denise McCutcheon of Elko, Nevada; her good friend, Sharon Wilson-Davis of Rock Island, Illinois; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her sons, Jack and John McCutcheon; her great-granddaughter, Chelsea Kay; her parents; and her siblings.
