Betty J. Hamilton, 83, of Eldridge, Iowa and formerly of Princeton-LeClaire died on Tuesday, November 21st at the Clarissa Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 25th at Our Savior Presbyterian Church, Argo, Iowa where she was a life-long member. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the church. Memorials may be made to the family for distribution to her favorite charities.
Betty was born on July 28, 1934 in Princeton, Iowa, the daughter of James B. & Vera Mae (Auliff) Lively and was a 1953 graduate of LeClaire High School. On April 20, 1955, she was united in marriage to James A. Hamilton at Our Savior Presbyterian Church.
Betty loved serving her family and friends, often by baking a beautiful pie. She proudly worked as a wife and homemaker of the family farm, a rural U.S. mail carrier, and later in life, Betty ran a restaurant in Trout Creek, Michigan until she found her calling in caring for her beloved grandchildren.
Those left to honor her memory include her children, Joni Zauhar of St. Petersburg, Florida, Robert Hamilton and fiancé, Mary Swanson of Princeton, Iowa, Jane (Loren) Niemann of DeWitt, Iowa and Jay (Jenny) Hamilton of Davenport, Iowa; her grandchildren, Zachary, Rachel and Natalie Zauhar; Lindsay and Lucas Hamilton; Hannah Niemann; and Lucy, Winston, John and Rose Hamilton; her great-grandchildren, Vivian and Kai Niemann; her sister, Mary (Fred) Boley of LeClaire, her brother, Robert (Barb) Lively of DeWitt and many other relatives and wonderful friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her son-in-law, William Zauhar; and her grandson, Levi Hamilton.
