Betty J. Hoots, 93, a resident of Riverdale, Iowa died on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at the Iowa Masonic Health Facility in Bettendorf, Iowa.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, November 24, 2014 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel in Bettendorf. She will be laid to rest at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. on Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Iowa Masonic Health Facility.
She was born on June 9, 1921 in Bettendorf, the daughter of Fred & Hazel (Nunnally) Kallous and was a graduate of Davenport High School. On January 19, 1941, she was united in marriage to Charles F. Hoots in Davenport. He preceded her in death on March 22, 1988.
Betty was a devoted and loving wife, mom, grandma & great-grandma who will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved her.
In earlier years, Betty was an active member of the Bettendorf Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughter & son-in-law, Judy (Dennis) Krell of Riverdale; her son & daughter-in-law, Jack (Shirlene) Hoots of Bettendorf; her grandchildren, Kelly Krell-Mares, Aaron (Shelly) Hoots and Sharmel Krell; and her great-grandchildren, Gabriella, Kaitlyn, Austin, Charlie, Dennis, Morgan, Owen & Luna.
In addition to her husband, Betty was preceded in death by her sisters, Edythe Smith and Dorothy Preisser.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Iowa Masonic Health Facility for their kind and loving care of Betty.
