Betty Jean (Sours) Johnson, 69, of Davenport, died Saturday, January 14, 2012 at her home.
Graveside services will be held 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at the mausoleum chapel in Fairmount Cemetery in Davenport. Visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Memorials may be made to Betty’s family in her memory.
Betty was born on December 12, 1942 in Davenport, the daughter of Harry Vernon and Marie Jean (Bennett) Sours. On July 4, 1959 in Davenport, she married Donald Ray Johnson.
Betty worked as a cashier for Randall’s, County Market, Mother Hubbard’s and most recently at the I-80 Truck Stop. She enjoyed playing cards, especially euchre, hosting Sunday dinners, and spending time with her family. Betty was a very giving and loving person; her grandchildren were a special part of her life. She was a member of Word of Faith Tabernacle Church in Davenport.
Survivors include her husband, Donald Ray Johnson, Sr. of Davenport; daughter, Denise Brady and sons, Donald Johnson, Jr. and Darren Johnson, all of Davenport; three grandchildren, Jessica Marie Brady, Jonathan Ray Brady and Abigail Kennedy Johnson; two step-grandchildren, Johanna Brady and Lance Brady; four sisters, Sharon Sours of Davenport, Jackie (Larry) Sindt of Montpelier, Susan Foster-Sours of Muscatine and Paulette (Curt) Beeding of Muscatine; one brother, Paul (Dixie) Sours of Blue Grass; and many special nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents and one son-in-law, Jesse Brady.
