Betty J. Jones, 83, of Pleasant Valley, Iowa, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 after an extended illness.
Per her request, there will be no services or visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Betty was born February 5, 1929 in Pontiac, Illinois, the daughter of Clarence & Elizabeth Jane Marie (Stewart) Holdridge. She was united in marriage to Donald E. Jones on January 24, 1949 in Davenport, Iowa. He preceded her in death on December 4, 1987.
She retired in 1989 from the former St. Luke’s Hospital in Davenport where she was a patient escort. Betty will be remembered as a kind caretaker for her friends and family.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughter and son-in-law, Terry & David Lemons, of Bettendorf; her sons, Donnie, Michael and Greg Jones, all of Bettendorf; three grandchildren; her sister, Virginia Ribordy of Latham, Illinois; and her brother, Skip Holdridge of Florida.
In addition to her husband, Betty was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters.
