Betty M. Morris, 81, a resident of Davenport, Iowa died on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus in Davenport.

Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Friday, July 29, 2011 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home of Bettendorf. Memorials may be made to the Friends of the Nahant Marsh of Davenport.

She was born November 24, 1929 in Davenport, the daughter of Emilio & Carrie Ann (Thorndyke) Lopez. On July 3, 1949, she was united in marriage to Carl F. Morris in Milan, Illinois. Carl preceded her in death in 1984.

Betty was a devoted wife, mom & grandma who was dearly loved by her entire family. She loved nature, enjoyed feeding her birds and was an avid gardener. Betty took great pleasure in caring & cooking for her cherished family. She will always be remembered as a caring & generous person by all who knew & loved her.

Those left to honor her memory include her sons, Steve (Darlene) Morris of Pensacola, Florida, Robby (Kathy) Morris of Davenport, Donny Morris of Davenport and Mike Morris of Davenport; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; her brother, Bobe (Joann) Lopez of Davenport; a special niece, Jackie (Millage) Hauser in Florida; her beloved canine companion, “Toby” and many other relatives and wonderful friends,

In addition to her husband, Betty was preceded in death by her son, Milo “Jake” Morris; her sisters, Josephine, Shirley & Mae; and her brothers, Kenneth & Richard.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the Genesis Visiting Nurses for their professional & compassionate care shown to their mother during her illness.
