Betty Ann Smith, 85, a lifelong resident of Bettendorf, died Sunday, February 17, 2013 at Trinity Bettendorf.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Bettendorf. A private family burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 20 th at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf with a Christian Wake Service held at 4:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church to be used for the choir and kitchen funds.
Betty Ann was born on April 5, 1927 in Davenport, the daughter of Henry and Mary K. (Karasek) Roeh. On June 28, 1947 she married Edward Louis Smith at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Bettendorf and enjoyed 65 wonderful years of marriage.
Betty Ann was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Bettendorf where she sang in the church choir for 60 years. She enjoyed tending to her flowers and garden, playing cards and cooking. She loved to travel and cherished her time spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Edward of Bettendorf; two daughters, Jannine (Henry) Givray of Chicago and Michelle (Kyle Hodde) Connolly of Erie, CO; four sons, Steve (Ann) Smith of Palos Heights, IL, Dave (Barb) Smith of Bettendorf, Tom (Debra) Smith of Austin, TX and Jeff (Mary) Smith of St. Charles, IL; twelve grandchildren, Craig, Geoff, Matt, Hans, Kerry, Kristina, Jason, Jenny, Stephanie, Maddie, Sean and Carmen; eleven great-grandchildren, Will, Bennett, Grant, Chase, Jillian, Graham, Vivek, Kamala, Jaan Tomas, Carson and Samantha; and one sister, Dorothy (Lloyd) Strohm of Moline.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
