Betty Lou Deem, 71, a resident of Davenport, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2016 at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa.
Private family services will be held at the Rock Island National Cemetery. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made to Gilda’s Club.
Betty Lou was born on September 5, 1944 in Davenport, the daughter of LaVern and Edna (Klemme) Stichter. On January 23, 1965 in Rock Island, she married Carl James Deem.
Betty Lou worked in the procurement department for 18 years at the United States Army Corps of Engineers. She was a member of the American Business Women’s Association and enjoyed sewing, horseback riding, cooking and baking. Betty Lou was a loving and dedicated wife who cherished her time spent with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Carl; daughters, Michelle (Derrick) Hilligoss of Edgington, Illinois and Lisa (Jay) Jackson of Donahue, Iowa; grandchildren, Brett and Tyler Hilligoss and Vianne and Allie Jackson; and her brother, Gene Stichter of Geneseo, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jerry and sisters, Janice and Dolores.
