Betty Lou "Betty Boop" Marker, 73, a resident of Davenport, Iowa peacefully passed away at her home Sunday evening surrounded by her beloved family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, October 2, 2003 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf. Burial will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family or Westside Assembly of God Church, Davenport.
She was born December 20, 1929 in Moline, Illinois, the daughter of Carl S. & Iva K. (Anderson) Johnson and was a 1946 honor graduate of Moline High School. On December 7, 1974, she married Lloyd G. Marker in Nashua, Iowa. He preceded her in death on November 17, 1979.
Betty had been employed at the Salvation Army Stores in the Quad-Cities for several years, prior to her retirement in 1989. In earlier years, she had been employed at the Moline Public Library and at International Harvester, Farmall Works in Rock Island.
Her memberships included the Davenport Moose, the Swedish Olive Heritage Center in Moline and the Moline Viking Club where she was a life-member.
Her family was the center of her life and she treasured the times spent together. The holidays were a very special time at her home and she always looked forward to the arrival of snow. In addition, she enjoyed collecting various items for her house, loved to play the piano, loved to dance and in earlier years, enjoyed roller skating. Her home was a haven of love and friendship to all and she will be dearly missed by those who knew & loved her. Her dogs, “Joey” and “Teddy” were a special part of her life as well.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughters & sons-in-law, Jacqueline Banks and Sheila & Frank Carrillo, all of Davenport and Jody & Mike Andrews of Bettendorf; her grandchildren, Tammy Schlieper, Michael Gomez, Stephanie Hughes, Melanie Hughes and Patrick Hughes; and her great-grandchildren, Marissa, Brandon, Cierra, Christopher, Matthew, Jordan, Alexix, Maria, Lauren, Collin, Isaiah, Michael Jr. and Ryan.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
