Bill M. Blake, 84, a resident of Bettendorf, died Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at his home.
A memorial gathering will be held from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 4, 2017, at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. An open house will be held at Bill’s home following the memorial. Private burial will be held at Davenport Memorial Park at a later date. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
Born on April 18, 1933 in Pawnee, Oklahoma, Bill was the son of Edward L. and Ada M. (Swanson) Blake. On January 23, 1953, in Davenport, he married Patricia A. Reichert. She preceded him in death on July 30, 2010.
Bill worked as a machine operator for Alcoa for 29 years, retiring in 1990. He was a member of the Alcoa Retirees Club, attending their monthly luncheons. Bill enjoyed camping, woodworking and playing cards.
Those left to honor his memory include his three daughters: Dianna Burger and her husband, Rob of Durant; Debra Simpson and her husband, Colin of Lexington, Kentucky; and Heather Blake of Bettendorf; five grandchildren: Chad Snyder, Todd (Tammy Winslett) Snyder, Mark (Jennifer) Snyder, Anne (Ben Ashley) Simpson and Jennifer (George) Petro; six great-grandchildren: Tyler Toom, Devin Snyder, Rebecca Snyder, Kara Snyder, Zachary Snyder and Gage Simpson; a great-great grandson, Tayson Toom; and a large extended family.
In addition to his wife, Bill was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Floyd, Fred, Robert and James.
