Bill Grother

Bill L. Grother, 86, a resident of Eldridge, died Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.
Private family services will be held at a later date with burial at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, Iowa. Chambers Funeral Home in Eldridge is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on November 8, 1930 in Des Moines, Iowa, Bill was the son of Jake and Ruby (Gilbride) Grother. On February 22, 1980 in Des Moines, he married Marilyn (Munzenmaier) Church.
Bill served his country in the United States Navy from 1949 – 1952. He worked as a claims representative for Farm Bureau for many years. Bill enjoyed fishing, golfing and tracking genealogy.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Marilyn; children, Alan (Sheri) Grother of Florida, Steve Church of Eldridge, Tim Church of Ankeny, Iowa, Mark Church of Marshalltown, Iowa, and Brad Church of Ankeny, Iowa; nephews, David Stewart, Jeff Fortezzo and Warren Fortezzo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Brian Grother; and sisters, Dorothy Stewart and June Fortezzo.
