Graveside services for William Arnold “Bill” and Bonnie Adele Baumgarten will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at Rock Island National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend may meet at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Memorials may be made to the Scott County Humane Society or Shriners Hospitals for Children in care of the funeral home.

Bonnie Adele Baumgarten, 70, of Davenport, died Monday, July 9, 2012 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.

William Arnold “Bill” Baumgarten, 77, of Davenport, died Thursday, February 7, 2013 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus in Davenport.

Bonnie was born on September 25, 1941 in Lansing, MI the daughter of Harry and Peg (Vandermore) Bailey. Bonnie served her country in the United States Navy from 1960 – 1964. She worked as a Medical Assistant for Dr. Billman in Lansing, MI for several years.

Bill was born on March 19, 1935 in Pleasant Valley, the son of William and Ilah (Baumbach) Baumgarten. Bill served his country in the United States Navy from 1953 – 1956.  He was assigned to the U.S.S. Helena, serving in the Philippines, Japan and Hawaii.  He married Connie Hesse in 1958; they later divorced. Bill worked as a millwright at the Rock Island Arsenal retiring after many years of service. He was a member of the Kaaba Temple Shrine and was a 33 rd Degree Mason.

Bill and Bonnie were married on September 16, 1980 in Michigan.

Those left to honor their memory include their children, Susie Bratcher (Greg) of LeClaire, Roxanne Gentry and her husband, Jeff of Long Grove, and Brian Laskowsky and his wife, Rachael of Central Lake, MI; their grandchildren, Jason, Jacob and his wife Jill, Willy, LeAnn, Chloé, Gavin and Maya; their great-grandchildren, Jamy, Adam and Caiden; Bonnie’s sister, Marinell Britton of Michigan; and their special friends, John, Jenny and Rich.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Doug Bailey. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Bonnie.
