Bobbie B. Ritter, 85, of Bettendorf, died Monday, January 4, 2016 at The Fountains in Bettendorf.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 8, 2016 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel in Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the services on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Wounded Warriors.
Bobbie was born March 24, 1930 in Ava, Missouri the son of Charley & Blanche (Hutchins) Ritter. He had served in the United States Army during the Korean War, stationed in Oahu. On June 15, 1954, he was united in marriage to LaVera “Jean” Rice in Leeton, Missouri.
He retired from Alcoa in 1996 after 35 years of service. He also drove a school bus for Bettendorf Community Schools for over 20 years. He will be remembered for his passion of gospel and bluegrass music, which he played and sang throughout his life with his brother, Clifford and other friends. Bobbie was very active in the church. His hobbies included walking, serving as an engineer for the Fountainville Express model train and participating in other activities at the Fountains.
Those left to honor his memory include his daughters, Kathy Ritter of Bettendorf, Deede (Mike) Heard of LeClaire; his son, Bobbie (Chris) Ritter of Davenport; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Jean, Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Stella and Freeda; and his brothers, Lester, Alva and Clifford.
