Bonita J. “Bonnie” Gittings, 67, a resident of Eldridge, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at Trinity Bettendorf surrounded by her beloved family
Private family services will be held. Memorials may be made to Trinity Pathway Hospice. Chambers Funeral Home of Eldridge is assisting the family with arrangements.
She was born on March 9, 1945 in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Charles Anthony & Irma Louise (Dunbar) Egger Sr. On July 13, 1991, she was united in marriage to Ed Gittings in Sedalia, Missouri.
Bonnie was a devoted wife, mom & grandma who also worked as a secretary in earlier years. She was an avid gardener, loved oil painting, enjoyed fishing and had a special place in her heart for her cats. Playing bingo and an occasional trip to the casinos were also a favorite of Bonnie’s.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Ed; her daughter, Denise “Deana” (Gary) Kaasa of Eldridge; her son, Don (Betsy) Jones of Eldridge; her step-daughters, Karen (Dave) McCoy of Davenport, Geri Gittings of Davenport and Stephanie (Claude) Hubbard of Davenport; her step-son, Dwight (Missy) Gittings of Calamus, Iowa; fourteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; her sister, Judy (Sam) Reddish of Davenport; her brothers, Kenny (Mildred) Egger of Monmouth, Illinois and Bob (Jan) Egger of LeClaire, Iowa; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her sisters, Carolyn Probazanski, DeDe Foust and her infant sister, Joyce Egger; her brothers, Charlie Egger, Donnie Egger and her infant brother, Michael Egger.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Hope Lodge in Iowa City, Iowa, the Trinity Bettendorf nurses and Dr. Joseph Bergstrom for their wonderful care and kindness they all provided.
