Boyd Housley, 86, a resident of Davenport, Iowa died on Friday, October 28, 2005 at his home following an extended illness.
No formal funeral services were held at his request. Interment took place at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Pleasant Valley, Iowa. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Genesis Hospice House. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf, Iowa is assisting the family with arrangements.
He was born March 13, 1919 in Clio, Iowa, the son of Elza & Cordie (Mullin) Housley. On October 8, 1951, he was united in marriage to Dorothy E. Seibel in Davenport.
Boyd was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II with service in the south Pacific. He was honorably discharged in 1946 at a Motor Machinist’s Mate First Class.
He was employed as a welder at Hawkeye Steel & Fabrication Company of Davenport prior to his retirement and was a life-member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Dorothy; his daughter & son-in-law, Penny & Robert Lutz of Shawnee, Kansas; and his grandson, Christian.
He was preceded in death by one sister and five brothers.
